Did you read the comments I put in that xwemrc.el? Specifically...

You'd be better off starting out with a empty ~/.xwem/xwemrc.el.
Or, alternatively, go through mine and comment out anything that talks
about "worklog" or "desktop". Probably be safest to comment out any
hook stuff too.
Get it running and then come back here and ask us how to tweak it. :-)
